“Hey, how sudden do you think a flash flood can happen?” Illiah asked as she passed the sign and started going on an underpass.
“Who knows, but not something I think you have to worry about in this light drizzle.” Matthew tapped on his window.
“There is a little stick up ahead, it says 5 apostrophe and 6 apostrophe, does that mean anything to you?” She frowned and started to put pressure on the breaks.
“Not really, why?”
“Fuck.”
“What’s wrong now drama queen.” Becca asked not bothering to sit up in the backseat.
“Grab the gear, I just lost control of the FUCK!” Illiah screamed as water spashed the windshield. “open the windows, open the windows now! Get the hammer! DO SOMETHING!” She said as she shoved four fingers on the button windows willing them to go down quickly. Becca rounded up their gear and Matthew unbuckled himself and Illiah then started playing with the sun roof that thankfully had manual release. Becca pulled down one of the cushions and grabbed the rest of their gear.
They escaped the car and treaded water for a bit. Thankfully all but two of the bags floated, and Becca pushed them to the proper owners. She looked at her own bag with a pout that said she wanted to cry.
“I’ll get you parts to replace whatever is broken on Ronney, and a watertight bag to put all your electronics in okay?”
“I already got a waterproof bag, Ronney is safe….” Becca sniffed. “I left the Dr Pepper in the car.”
