The dog barked, Lexi’s eye’s fluttered open and then heavy lids found each other again. Realizing that she was uncomfortable she rolled to her other side finding the spot heavenly warm. Add the cool breeze that floated in her window, she drifted back to sleep almost immediately.
The dog barked again. One eye barely opened and looked around the room before closing again. Another light breeze, colder this time, but not enough to make her want to move, it was too comfy.
The dog started barking franticly, and the bed shifted. The barking sound was right in front of her face. Lexi opened her eyes looking at a wedge shaped fawn head with small ears. The black rim, brown oval eyes seemed try to be telling her something as it nipped her nose. The temperature in the room seemed to be decreasing almost minutely.
“I don’t have a dog.” She scratched the creature on the top of the head and sat up rubbing her arms. “Why is it so cold in here? Hey stop that.” She pulled her leg away from the dog. She put her feet on the ground and sleepily looked around. Something was wrong, something was very wrong. She looked at her feet. “I don’t have carpet.”
