The rain never ended,

The rain never ended, once it finally came. The elders all talk of the great drought that lasted two full seasons and in some parts of the world almost a full four. They say at first it had been welcome. It came after a fall that had been so wet that most crops were flooded to the point of destruction and a winter so harsh that the snows came past a tall person’s chest. What absurd imagery, snow that high, maybe if you gathered it up like leaves in the fall. The elders said that most children stayed inside while it rained back in the day.

The empty bright blue that filled the day sky and velvet skies that were covered in billions of diamonds so many that you could barely make out the velvet if you were far enough from the cities at night. The moon was always able to be seen because even empty it blocked the stars behind it. Empty days and full nights; that just doesn’t make any sense. There is always clouds in the sky during the day. Most nights you cannot make out the moon and there might be a few stars in the sky.

There is always rain, if not overhead than in an area nearby. All children play in the rain, they are more fun than the few days we have without. There is something soothing about the sound of the drops hitting different textures, a comforting melody that lets you know everything is going to be alright. Lighting and thunder are fascinating.

The rain hasn’t ended, let it never end again.
