The bird preened

The bird preened. He wasn't sure what to do. There was a lot of little ones running around in his home today, and there was now a small young dog. He was perched as high as he could get on his cage. This is much like what happened a year ago. He shifted while eyeing the shiny boxes that were sitting on the table. The adults had shooed him away enough times that he got the point.

"Bidy! Come here?" His little female called to him yet again with her hands extended. "Peas Bidy?" The dog pranced over to her and rubbed on her leg. "Go way George" She pushed it away a few times. "I said, go way George, I want my Bidy" She sat down and just looked up at Bidy while George made her lap his bed. One of the other little females ran over to her and pulled her hair.

"Come pay, come pay!" Bidy hid his head under his wing, cringing at the high pitch of her voice. How long until the house empties?

"Mommy, mommy, Bidy wont come down."

"I'm sure he's just bothered by all the people and noise, he'll play later. You want to open your presents now? I even have one for him."

"Gimme that one first" She held up the very small shiny box to Bidy. "Bidy, Bidy, for you."

Bidy, who has been given many a gifts was very tempted, he started to climb down when a few of the little ones croweded his cage, he climbed right back up. His own small female started to cry, and he was torn.

His adult male picked her up and he took the small box from her and rubbed his head against her head until she was out of reach. He held on to his box and watched her rip into hers, content with her happiness.
