Comfort zone BREAK

Comfort zone BREAK, I looked around trying to see if anybody else could hear the snap that I felt. Wrapping my arms around me, I held myself tightly and failed at controlling my breathing, trying to look calm on the outside. I tried to focus, but everybody around me made it difficult.

I have been wandering around the country since I left the service, just me and the open road on my 2013 Honda Rebel. Everything I ever needed fit in my saddle bags or backpack. My short, spiky hair black hair with blue streaks, blue jeans, teeshirt, black leather jacket, cowgirl boots was my typical look. Full sleeves and some ink on my face, with 6/4 earings. I wore a dog collar with a bell and a masculine ring on a necklace. When I looked in the mirror, I saw myself, and that is all I really needed in the world. My friends never said anything against how I looked, or they weren't friends.

I grew up in a concretive family, I've tried to go home a few times, never last long. They try to accept me, but one thing I have learned is body language, they are ashamed to be seen with me out in public, even when I do cover up my arms and take off the collar. That they are uncomfortable around me sets me off, so I leave as soon as it is polite and find reasons to not go.

One of my friends realized that I was near him and invited me to stay at his place a few days. Why not? He was one of my friends that I could get really physical with and didn't even try to treat me like a porcelain doll. Towards the middle of a mile run I grabbed his arm and said "Do you want to play a game?" and then sprinted the rest of the way to his place, jumping over bushes, under a fence, anything to put stuff between us. He almost caught me a few times, but I managed to get out and take off again. Somehow I made it into his house and locked the front door and he banged on it a few times, hollering at me. I got a little worried when he stopped, so I unlocked the door and poked my head out, when I didn't see him I stepped out. I screamed when he grabbed me and pulled me back into the house. We started fighting, and got very loud, it was so much fun. Apparently we were being so loud we didn't hear the first knock, or a bang... or even notice when the cops entered the house... We stopped fighting when we did, and started laughing. Yeah... that went over well... Thank god my friend use to be a cop...

When my friend asked if I wanted to head out with him this morning I agreed. Yesterday at dinner had been a little weird, people were staring at me. Sleepy small little towns are not use to girls like me... But they mostly minded their own business..

This morning was a bit different, apparently news travels fast, cause everybody was looking at me. This time they were whispering, how my friend was oblivious to it I'll never know. That they were saying his name was bothering me. I realized that I looked out of place, but I was dressed up, well, as dressed up as I got. I was wearing a simple modest blue dress to match my dog collar. That was the only hint he would give me. Thankfully he said as much, I hated to think what the crowd's reaction would have been to me in my normal garb.

What the hell were we doing in a church anyways?
