She felt a kick

She felt a kick, what a way to be woken up. She sat up and put her hands on her stomach. "No freaken way," when she felt another kick. She looked over to her empty spot on her bed. Her last lover had died over a year ago, and she hadn't taken another since.

She ran to the bathroom, not sure what she wanted to do more, throw up or pee. She tried to remember when her last cycle was as she doubled over. The thing kicked again, and she rocked back. Without a lover she hadn't kept track of her cycles. Two or three months ago? No way she was pregnant, or far enough along to feel kick.

She went to the doctor the next week and got an ultrasound where the doctor told her she was 26 weeks pregnant. She shakes her head which she has buried in her hands. "I haven't had sex in a year doc. This is impossible"

"Apparently not."
